"ALCINA"
Segment 1 - Col celarvi a chi v'ama un momento


ALCINA is a performance of George Friedrich Händel's Opera, held in in July 2021 in Saluzzo, Italy, and produced by the Saluzzo Opera Academy. This contemporary adaptation of Händel's work was directed by Italian-Argentinian director José Dario Innella, whose unique take on one of the best works in the Baroque repertoire resulted in a haunting, moving and intense stage performance. In this reimagining, Alcina's beautiful island of illusions is transformed into a contemporary suburban wasteland, with drug addiction replacing sorcery. In the performance, Bradamante embarks on a mission to infiltrate into Alcina's underground drug empire, to rescue her former lover Ruggiero from the drug queen's evil rule.
